2) 20 tons of hemp stored with Martini & Co., Manila, at least as late as November 1917, to be forwarded either to Marseilles, Bordeaux or Genoa to Pfister (addressed to the Societe Suisge de Surveillance) or to Herman Dubler, Cotton Exchange Buildings, New York (Pfister's brother in law for eventual transmission through a French port to the Soolete Suisse de Surveillance for Pfister,

Between July 20th and August 29th, Pfister purchased 81 tons of woven hemp fibre from Martini & Co., Manila (S.S.S. permita No.843 of 20.7.17, 1342 of 20.8.17, 1425 of 29.8.17.). 51 bales of knotted abaca fibre came forward for Pfister's account in the early part of 1917 on the "Glengyle" and the "Karimoen"; these were held by Amerigo Cattaneo, Milan.

3) 62 bales of Indian hemp, 1 case of hats and 9 tons

of Manila hemp stored at Genoa with the Society Italo- Svizzera. The Manila homp may have been transferred into the name of Scacchetti & Sitti, Carpi, in exchange for 2 tons now at Marseilles and 30 bales in London. If 80,

The cour26 made to Scacchetti and Sitti by Pfistor. suggested was that in order to assist Pfister in obtaining pormission from the French and British Governments for the export of the exchanged hemp, Scacchetti & Sitti should give Pfister a written assurance that the gooda at Marseilles and London were originally destined for Switzerland.

From the circumstancos of the case, it appeare extremely probable that such an assurance, if given, is false.

With regard to Pfister's trade with Great Britain enquiry of H. V. Thirkell 61/62 Barbican and Wells Fargo & Co., 16 Brunswick Street, Liverpool, may provo fruitful.
